About this competition:
After the behemoth of a competition that was Bay Area Speedcubin' 5, the BASC Organisation Team sought to hold a very low-stress competition, free from the general busy atmosphere Rubik's Cube competitions have become, and to allow blindfolded solvers and Fewest Moves Challengers an opportunity to compete in an environment tailored to their needs.
And so, BASC PBQ was born.
Things to note:
- This is not your normal competition. If you have not competed before, you are welcome to attend, but this is not the best competition for your first experience. We won't hold any of the normal events, like 3x3 or 2x2 or one-handed. The competition is open to spectators at no charge.
- Please be quiet. These events can require immense focus, so as the name of the competition suggests, competitors and spectators must remain quiet to ensure fair and equal conditions for all competitors. Those who continually make noise will be asked to leave without refund.
- Competitors should expect to judge. Depending on the number of competitors who enter and the expected times per BLD attempt, the organisation team will schedule everyone's individual BLD attempts to give the competition a nice, clear structure. When you are not scheduled to compete (this includes FMCers), please be available to judge BLD attempts.
Registration Fee:
Registration fee is $15 and covers all events. You must pay your registration fee online before your spot will be reserved. It is imperative to do so quickly, as registration is capped at 50 competitors. For more information, see the 'Registration' tab.
What to Bring:
- Your own cubes. Competitors compete with their own puzzles. Make sure your puzzles are competition-legal by checking that they comply with the WCA Regulations.
- Lunch. Lunch isn't being provided. There are restaurants near the Lodge, but it is recommended that you bring your own lunch.
- Your A-game! Aim for the best results that you can!
This competition is recognized as an official World Cube Association competition. Therefore, all competitors should be familiar with the WCA regulations. If you are new to competing, you may want to look at CubingUSA's Competitor Tutorial.
