Discovery Place is currently hosting Beyond Rubik's Cube, the world's first exhibition all about the Rubik's Cube puzzle. Explore how the Rubik's Cube emerged from a workshop in Communist-era Hungary to become a worldwide phenomenon, fostering creativity across the fields of science, technology, engineering, robotics, the visual arts, music, film, architecture and mathematics.

Travel Information

Discovery Place is located in uptown Charlotte at 301 N. Tryon Street. Convenient parking is available in the Museum’s parking deck - the Carol Grotnes Belk Complex - at the corner of Sixth and Church Streets (GPS address 220 W 6th Street). 

Enter the deck from Sixth Street. Walking access to the Museum from the parking deck is located on Level 3. Please enter the Museum from the Overstreet Walkway on Level 3. Registration is located on Level 3 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.

Please bring your parking ticket inside with you to receive discounted parking. 

The Speedcubing Competition will be held in Discovery 3D Theatre, located on Level 1 of the Museum. Participants will receive two Museum wristbands with registration: one for the participant plus one guest. Additional wristbands are available for purchase in the Museum. 

In between events, participants are welcome to practice in Windows on Tryon, located on Level 2 of the Museum, just past Tryon Street Admissions. The Mosaic Contest will be held in Windows on Tryon as well.
